These great blue heron nests are at the Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary in Natick Massachusetts.
There was quite a bit of activity there while I was taking pictures. When I first arrived at the viewing location, there were two birds visible, one in each nest.
After a few minutes, another heron arrived and perched in a tree to the right of the nests.
It seemed to attract the attention of a chick in the nest on the right.
Then another adult arrived at the nest on the right.
Now several chicks are visible in the nest.
One of the adults leaves the nest ...
... and an adult arrives at the nest.
... and an adult leaves the nest.
Then, the lone bird, the on the tree to the right took off...
And an adult arrived at the nest.
An adult left the nest on the right and, the adult in the nest on the left stood up.
Now the adult in the nest on the left is sitting again and a chick in the nest on the right is stretching its wings.
