The pictures in this blog are of interest to me either because they are visually appealing or because I find the subject interesting. The latter type could be just about anything depending on my mood or whim of the moment, but most likely they would be of animals or plants I don't see very often or which are unusual in my local area. Or, they could be of a common animal doing something interesting like a sparrow bathing in a puddle or a robin eating a crabapple or pulling a worm out of the ground.
I tried keeping two blogs, one for nice pictures and one for intersting subjects, but I found I didn't have time to maintain two blogs. If you are only interested in artistic photographs, or if you are not interested in nice photos of a common house sparrow, you will have to be patient with me.
For those who are only interested in visually appealing photographs, I try to indicate the technical quality of the photographs with a rating system of stars included in the title of the blog post:
**** Nice picture, something that might look good in a framed print.
*** Not as good as a four stars but reasonable exposure and focus.
** The photograph has serious flaws, either out of focus, badly exposed, too grainy, etc. However the subject is still readily recognizable
* Barely recognizable. These photographs might still be interesting if someone familiar with the subject can recognize it in the image since it provides evdence of the presence of that subject in the local area. For example, a blurry photo of an kangaroo would be very interesting if it was taken at a wildlife sanctuary in the Eastern US.
