I heard the blue jays screaming so I looked up in the sky to see if there was a hawk in the area. I didn't see one, but I did see a flock of red-winged black birds flying and they alighted in a tree.
This brown bird with the eapulet is an immature male.
Soon they were joined by more of the flock.
Then more alighted in the same tree.
The black individuals are males, the brown ones are females.
